PROJECT: Walmart Sustainability Assessment (Scorecard)

CLIENT’S NEED: Suppliers and brands needed assistance meeting Walmart’s sustainability requirements. They required programs that were cost effective, fostered continuous improvement, and provided relevant information for customer assessments, audits, scorecards, and requirements.

Brands and suppliers were able to understand and communicate to Walmart their sustainability accomplishments, improvement opportunities, and goals. This resulted in significant increases in our clients’ Walmart sustainability score.
APPROACH: Shift Advantage partnered with each client to baseline their performance and identify opportunities for improvement to meet Walmart’s and other customers’ requirements. Shift Advantage created questionnaires, performed onsite assessments, analyzed data, provided answers to Walmart’s surveys, and developed tangible next steps and action plans.

RESULTS: Brands and suppliers were able to understand and communicate to Walmart their sustainability accomplishments, improvement opportunities, and goals. This resulted in significant increases in our clients’ Walmart sustainability score. In addition, we identified cost savings and showed measurable improvement over time. An example of our success included increasing a client’s Walmart Sustainability Assessment score from 38% (below target) to 86% (above target) and receiving this statement from Walmart: “You are well on your way to becoming one of our leaders in sustainability.” We were honored to hear from the president of the brand that they felt they would not have received these results without Shift Advantage’s guidance and work.
